Australia salute World Cup heroes
Aus Post have released a special souvenir sheet to salute the achievements of the country's World Cup squad, who were cruelly knocked out by eventual winners Italy following a late and controversial penalty.
Australia had qualified from a tough group following a win over Japan, a gallant defeat at the hands of Brazil and a rousing draw with Croatia. They met Italy in the second round and the match seemed to be heading for extra time when Lucas Neill was harshly adjudged to have tripped Fabio Grosso in stoppage time. Francesco Totti dispatched the penalty to send the Australians crashing out.
Departing coach Guus Hiddink and the following eight players are featured on the stamps: Mark Viduka, Tim Cahill, Mark Schwarzer, Harry Kewell, John Aloisi, Craig Moore, Marco Bresciano, Brett Emerton.

South Africa look to 2010. New stamp for next World Cup issued
As the dust settles following Italy's triumph at World Cup 2006 in Germany, 2010 hosts South Africa have issued a new stamp to commemorate their staging of the next finals.
Students at the Pretoria Open Window Art Academy were asked to submit designs for the new issue, however they were given strict instructions not to use images of football players, any team logos or colors and the stamp had to have an educational theme.
The winning design was created by second year student Michelle Beukes, who decided to use the image of an African wild dog against a fiery backdrop.
"I chose the Wild Dog as a symbol for the miniature sheet because they are found only in Africa, south of the Sahara and in particular the dogs work in teams similar to that of soccer players," said Beukes.
